How to Choose the Right Web Design Agency
When it comes to choosing a web design agency, it’s important to consider what kind of experience you want to have. Different sizes and types of companies operate differently and produce different levels of quality.
With a smaller company, you get the benefit of working more closely with someone on your website whereas with a larger company, you may rarely ever hear from the person who’s in charge of your account. However, a larger company will have access to more resources and be able to produce results very quickly.

Website Cost Estimates: A Breakdown on Prices
Most web design companies, ours included, base their prices on an hourly rate. This rate generally varies from $25-$200 per hour depending on the company’s experience and the quality of the website. When it comes to website costs, freelancers tend to be on the more affordable side while larger agencies are on the higher end.
How many hours it will take to build and maintain your site depends on how advanced you want it to be. Certain features are more time intensive to create and maintain and will raise the overall cost of your site. To give you an idea of pricing, here’s what you can expect to pay on average for specific website features in 2018:
Domain name: Costs $10-100 per year. A domain can be purchased from a registrar for as low as $10/year. However, domain and DNS management can help reduce the risk of human error when editing complex DNS data. For this service, you can expect to pay up to $100/year.
Hosting: Costs on average $50-1,200 per year. There are three different types of hosting – dedicated, shared, and free. Dedicated hosting is the most expensive option, while shared is generally considered the least expensive. How much you’ll pay for hosting depends on the type you choose.
Custom design/information architecture: Costs $2,500-10,000. This phase of the process generally requires on average up to 30 hours of work. It includes everything from imagery, visual design, and ux design to sitemap structure and page structure. Meetings and internal work are both included in this cost.
Shopping cart integration: Costs $200-15,000. If you need your website to have shopping cart features or e-commerce capabilities, it will cost extra. The more advanced or complicated these features need to be, the more time they will require to create. However, they can be very useful tools to have in terms of the sales they’ll provide in the long run.
Project management: Costs $600-3,000. Your web developer or agency will need to meet with you and conduct outside research to get the information needed for your site. Both these activities require time that must be accounted for.
Testing & training: Costs $600-4,800. After all, what good is a website if you don’t know how to use it? A reputable agency will go over all the features included with your website and make sure that they work properly and that you know how to use them.
Launch & digital marketing set up: Costs $600-4,800. This includes getting your website ready to launch, making any last minute changes, and optimizing your site so it can be found by the search engines.
Website management: Costs $250-750+ per month. Once your website has been launched, the next step is getting it in front of the right people. Content marketing, blogging, PPC, ongoing SEO, and social media are key for driving traffic to your site.
