SEO, PPC and Content Marketing What Is Better for Your Company to Drive Traffic
SEO, PPC and Content Marketing

As the owner of an athlete branding agency, I get asked a lot about various marketing strategies, including SEO, PPC, content marketing, etc. Naturally, business owners want to know what the most effective approach is to drive sales. And, let’s face it, the world of online marketing can be confusing to those who are unfamiliar with it; there are a lot of moving parts. In this post, we’ll discuss different digital marketing strategies and how they can work together to drive traffic to your website.

Common Marketing Strategies: SEO, PPC & Content Marketing

Among others, some of the most common digital marketing strategies are SEO, PPC, and content marketing. We won’t get into too much detail about how each works, but for the sake of understanding, here’s a short explanation:

  • SEO (search engine optimization): Search engine optimization is the process of optimizing a website to rank higher on a list of search engine (Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.) results. The goal is to be the first website people see at the top of the list when they search for your products/services.

Understanding How Strategies Work Together

Many agencies try to separate these services a part and put them at conflict with one another, promoting one strategy above another. But the truth is that these strategies can and should be together.

When marketing strategies are used in conjunction with another, they are more likely to create better overall results. Think of it as pieces of a puzzle coming together.

For example, creating quality content is crucial. The images and words on your website need to be engaging and original in order to capture the interest of your audience. But unless that content is optimized, it’s highly unlikely that it will rank well on a search engine.

And the same can be said vice-versa. You can optimize a site like crazy, but unless the content is unique and interesting to the people who see it, it will most likely fail at producing conversions. In other words, if your stuff looks boring, people aren’t going to want to buy it.

PPC is also a crucial factor for getting your content in front of the right people. PPC ads are successful because they put your website infront of people who are most likely to buy your product. They have made the choice to buy before they started searching and when they see your ad at the top of the list, they click on it immediately.

But, once again, PPC shouldn’t be the only strategy you use. You still don’t want to miss out on all the organic results from SEO. And, just like SEO, PPC needs quality content in order to work. You want to make sure that once a consumer clicks on your ad, they like the content they see and proceed to the shopping cart checkout or contact page.

Again, think of the puzzle analogy. It’s only when all the parts come together that the whole structure works and the picture can be seen.
